Sport Makers - Creating a sporting legacy for Oxfordshire
www.sportmakers.co.uk
Sport Makers is funded by Sport England with lottery funding and backed by our greatest Olympian, Sir Steve Redgrave. It is for everyone who’d like to make sport happen for their friends, neighbours or colleagues and is bringing the magic of a home Olympic and Paralympic Games into communities across the country.
“You don’t need medals to become a sporting hero. By helping people you know to get involved in sport you’ll be doing something amazing for your friends and local community as well as having fun yourself. The thing I want to see more than anything is more people out enjoying what sport has to offer, but we need your help to make it happen.”
Sir Steve Redgrave
Sport Makers has already inspired over 700 people in Oxfordshire through Sport Makers workshops to get involved by giving 10 hours or more to do whatever they can to encourage, support, organise or lead others in sporting activities. It is open to anyone aged 16 and over.
Every Sport Maker is invited to an informal and interactive workshop where you’ll gain the skills and opportunities to get involved in sport in Oxfordshire. Sport Makers will introduce you to organisations that need their help, support you to lead your own activities and help you to join forces with others who want to make sport happen locally.
Sport Makers is a great chance to get involved in making sport happen in Oxfordshire, whether that’s planning the route, finding the pitch or encouraging others to take part.
Anyone who has attended a Sport Makers workshop is also entitled to apply for a small grant to support them in delivering activity to others. Download the Sport Makers: Make Sport Happen Grant application form here
