About Oxfordshire Sports Partnership
The Oxfordshire Sports Partnership is made up of partners and stakeholders working together to add value to what they do individually and more effectively, efficiently and economically increase participation in sport and physical activity and achieve the Vision for Oxfordshire :
' to be the most active and sporty community in the country by 2017'
The purpose of the Partnership is to:
'Working together to more effectively increase partcipation in sport and physical activity'
The Partnership came into its fully formed structure with the start of a Core Team in October 2006 and launched its strategy 'Our Sporting Future' in November 2006.
2009 saw the Partnership taking on a wider physical activity role alongside sport and the development of Oxfordshire's Sport and Physical Activity Strategic Framework.
2012 has seen a refresh of the Strategic Framework for 2013-17 taking on board partner priorities and key strategic issues for Oxfordshire.
The Oxfordshire Sports Partnership is one of the 49 County Sports Partnerships within England, which were instigated and funded by Sport England.
Sport England are the main funder but additional funding also comes from the Primary Care Trust, National Governing Bodies of Sport, the Health and Wellbeing Board and the Youth Sport Trust.
The rationale for the Partnership can be summed up by the following quote from IDeA 2010.
'partners should be focused on, and organised around, the delivery of outcomes and that the more complex and challenging outcomes can only be tackled by organisations working in partnership.'
