New Disability Football League Kicks Off in Oxfordshire

The inaugural BOBi League (Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire inclusive League) begins this November, offering competitive football for disabled footballers over the age of 12 years.

14 teams have entered the first season of the BOBI League representing 5 different football clubs. Oxfordshire based clubs that have entered this year are Oxford City Casuals and Banbury United LD. As well as playing in the league, these two clubs also offer regular coaching sessions for their players, with sessions based on developing player ability while having fun.

The league is a pan-disability league and divisions for the 2008/09 season are:

· Adult Mens Championship (7 v 7)

· Adult League (7 v 7)

· Adult Ladies (5 v 5)

· U16 Championship (7 v 7)

Owain Prosser, Football Development Officer for The OFA, explained the importance of the league: “The BOBi League provides a fantastic opportunity for disabled footballers in Oxfordshire to play competitively in a fun and safe environment. The fact that there has been so many teams registered already shows that there is massive interest in disabled football and I can only see the BOBi League growing in future years

If you have a disability and are interested in playing competitive football, or if you are looking to establish a new disability team in your area please contact Owain Prosser on owain.prosser@oxfordshirefa.com or 07956415583.
