Bobi Inclusive Football

If you are a keen football player you will be excited to hear about the BOBi (Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Inclusive) League for football players with a disability.

The Bobi league runs 7 Different Divisions:

  • Mens Premiership
  • Mens Championship
  • Mens League
  • Mens Conference (Starting 2010/11 Season)
  • Womens League
  • U16 Division
  • U12 Divison

Vicky Bonham, Football Development Officer for The OFA, explained the importance of the league: “The BOBi League provides a fantastic opportunity for disabled footballers in Oxfordshire to play competitively in a fun and safe environment. The fact that there has been so many teams registered shows that there is massive interest in disabled football and I can only see the BOBi League growing in future years”

One of the teams that play in the Bobi League are the Oxford City Casuals, they have written this report to go on our website and eNews.

We are a football team for players with all kinds of learning difficulties, with a very wide range of skills. Our players age from 7 years up. At the moment we have around 60 players on our books.

We meet on Sunday mornings in the Club House at Oxford City FC at around 10.45am, we start off by taking a register, we then go out to the new 3G pitches. We aim to finish at 11.30am to go back into the Club House for a drink, biscuits and this is when we give out any notices etc.

We are part of the BOBi League. We play in a lot of tournaments and usually enter 5 teams – 3 men’s, 1 ladies and 1 U16. Transport to tournaments is kindly provided by Oxford City FC.

We have a very loyal team of volunteer coaches who have been running this team for several years.

New players are always welcome, just come along suitably dressed with i.e. tracksuit bottoms, trainers or football boots if they have them, shin pads and a non fizzy drink for when they are training. For any further information please contact Janet Kidd 07754 885320 or Colin Taylor 07817 885396

If you have a disability and are interested in playing competitive football, or if you are looking to establish a new disability team in your area please contact Vicky Bonham on Vicky.Bonham@oxfordshirefa.com or 07956415583.

The BOBi League is a football league created by the Bobi Football Development Group to encourage more people with learning disabilities to play football and to give teams from Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire competitive matches to play in.
