Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport

Oxfordshire Sports Partnership is committed to the principle that all children and vulnerable adults have the right to be protected from abuse.

Oxfordshire Sports Partnership acknowledges the need to provide and maintain a high degree of physical and mental wellbeing for children and vulnerable adults in its care.

The aim of Oxfordshire Sports Partnership’s Safeguarding Policy and procedures is to increase awareness and promote good working practices to everyone in sport and physical activity.

The partners within Oxfordshire Sports Partnership will ensure:

  • All people involved with working with children and vulnerable adults will implement good working practices to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Everyone involved is aware of safeguarding issues both in the context of organised activities and within the home and community
  • Standard procedures are in place to ensure that suspected or actual abuse and poor practice is reported, and that everyone involved with Oxfordshire Sports Partnership understands and is aware of the procedures to follow
  • When child abuse or poor practice is reported or suspected it is recognised that the welfare of the child or vulnerable adult is paramount.

The Oxfordshire Sports Board endorses these aims, and supports the Oxfordshire Sports Partnership in this work, and the development of a partnership implementation plan.
