Denise Brown - Coach Development Officer

Hi, I’m Denise, and I’ve been involved in sport and physical activity for as long as I can remember. It all started a long time ago in the RAF where I served as a staff instructor at the School of PE before leaving to live and work in Northern Ireland. I worked for a short period for the Northern Ireland Civil Service, before continuing as a PE teacher for eleven years, which I found extremely enjoyable and fulfilling. This was followed by a 13-year stint with Ulster Squash as their Development Officer.

In October 2006 I joined Oxfordshire Sports Partnership as Sport Workforce Development Officer and this role involved developing and supporting the workforce in Oxfordshire. This included the provision and coordination with other members of the core team, of a generic training programme for coaches, administrators and volunteers and also CPD coaches for coaches of all levels.

In 2010 I've taken on a new role as Coach Development Officer.

I have always been a keen sportsperson, representing the RAF at athletics, diving, badminton and hockey. I took up squash and basketball relatively late in life. I still try to do as much as I can sports-wise, working out in the gym as well as continuing to play league squash and basketball (raising the teams’ respective average ages considerably). I just hope my knees holdout for a few more years as I still enjoy participating and competing immensely!
